Baby brother

Dr. Seuss is right, "A person's a person, no matter how small". I asked Allegra: "What are you thankful for today?" She responded: "I am thankful because God sent me a baby brother, he's already in your tummy".

Big Time!

Allegra y yo fuimos a conocer un centro de diversiones para niños. Es un lugar nuevo, que está cerca del trabajo de Danny, y se llama Big Time! Trampoline Fun Center. Blyssé también estaba invitada, pero no pudo ir porque los martes va a la escuela todo el día. (Es una escuela de un día a la semana, para niños de educación independiente, o sea que no van a la escuela tradicional.)

A Allegra y a mí nos encantó brincar en los trampolines. Hay una área especial para niños menores de 7 años, con trampolines, resbaladeros, alberca de esponjas, cuerdas para escalar, sube y bajas y dos casitas de Madera. Hay unas cómodas bancas para sentarse con tranquilidad mientras los niños juegan, lo cual resultó muy conveniente, pues ahí vimos a una amiga con su hijito.

Hay una pequeña área de inflables también. Además de un área para comer y otra de "maquinitas" y otros juegos que se pagan a parte del precio de entrada.

A mis niñas les encanta ir a este tipo de lugares, yo evito ir los fines de semana, ya que están siempre llenos.

Lo que no me gustó de este lugar es que el precio es sólo por 2 horas, aunque por niños menores de 7 años, un adulto entra gratis. La otra cosa que no me gustó fueron las maquinitas y los juegos de monedas. El paseo sale caro si le agregas todas las monedas de esos juegos. Lo mejor es limitarse a los trampolines e inflables.

En general, es una buena opción para los meses de nieve que ya se acercan. Creo que sí vale la pena probarlo.

November 2012 Elections

While reading my ballot with all the names of all the candidates to different government positions, it occurred to me that I should vote for all of those with "Hispanic" names or last names. That should assure me that they are "more like me", and that they will actually be on my side and defend my and my family's interests and values, right? Maybe even more so, if those candidates have Mexican ancestors... I was born and raised in Mexico!! Having brown skin (like mine) would be a plus.

Ha, ha, ha! Totally kidding!! How silly would it be for anyone to vote for any candidate based merely on the color of their skin, "race" (don't like this term so much, too vague, very much misused), or heritage? It would really be silly of me or anybody to not research candidates and the work they have actually done, and what issues they have supported or not, during their career.

Even if my daughters and myself have dual citizenship and are proudly Mexican, as much as we are American citizens, I could not vote for someone only because they are Mexican-American too. I would not feel compelled to vote for someone just because they look like me, or their parents were born where I was born. That obviously, does not mean they are prepared for the job, or that they will represent me, and what's important to me.

Who's cooler? That's important! I am going to have to go back and re-think my vote based on their level of coolness.
